キノの旅 -the Beautiful World-

Dedicated to the light novel and anime Kino no Tabi: the Beautiful World

mightve asked: please give me this url if you ever log in again

Done. Sorry for sitting on it for so long! (´∀`)

Also for those wondering, with the new Tumblr updates, I can post again. However, the other Kino blog has been 9000 times more active than I could ever be, so I really don’t feel the need to return. (And I am intensely lazy so.) You should all go follow them if you haven’t already! They’re excellent. :>

Reason for Inactivity

So, most of you have probably noticed that I’ve been completely inactive lately, and there’s several reasons for that.

The biggest reason is that I’m unable to upload any photos. Every time I try, it gives me an error message. And, I’ve tried various ways to remedy this situation (i.e. using different computers with different IP addresses, submitting photos to myself, etc.) and no dice. With a quick search, I discovered that other people have had similar problems, and there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to why/how it appeared.

Also, as a new, far more active Kino blog has popped up during this time, I really see no reason to continue with this blog when the only thing I can do is reblog others and/or put up quotes.

So, I guess this is kind of a farewell? Except not really, since I might return if Tumblr ever decides to fix the photo problem. Or I might return just for the heck of it. Who knows. Just keep in mind that I’m no longer regularly or actively updating.

Thanks for everything.

- P.S. If you haven’t already, follow fyeahKino and ask-a-traveler. They’re amazing blogs, and they actually update regularly (unlike me)!

Kino is a traveler, a wanderer, a drifter. She is always traveling, and only stays at one village/town/city/kingdom for three days. She is a girl who has cut ties with her old life, taking on a new name and a new calling. This fanmix is about Kino’s growth from the young girl who didn’t want to have her “operation” to the strong young woman who still thinks the world is beautiful despite- or maybe because of- all the bad things she has seen.Songs were chosen based on both the lyrics and the feel of the song.
1. “Talking Bird” by Death Cab for CutieIt’s hard to see your way outWhen you live in a house in a houseCause you don’t realizeThat the windows were open the whole time.2. “Wake Up” by Arcade FireIf the children don’t grow up,our bodies get bigger but our hearts get torn up.We’re just a million little god’s causin rain stormsTurnin’ every good thing to rust.3. “Cave” by Mumford & SonsIt’s empty in the valley of your heartThe sun, it rises slowly as you walkAway from all the fearsAnd all the faults you’ve left behind4. “The World at Large” by Modest MouseThe days get shorter and the nights get cold. I like the autumn but this place is getting old. I pack up my belongings and I head for the coast. It might not be a lot but I feel like I’m making the most. The days get longer and the nights smell green. I guess it’s not surprising but it’s spring and I should leave. I like songs about drifters - books about the same. They both seem to make me feel a little less insane. Walked on off to another spot.I still haven’t gotten anywhere that I want.5. “You are a Tourist” by Death Cab for CuiteAnd if you feel just like a tourist in the city you were bornThen it’s time to goAnd define your destinationThere’s so many different places to call home6. “Across the Universe” by Fionna AppleSounds of laughter, shades of earth are ringingThrough my open ears inciting and inviting meLimitless undying love which shines around me like amillion suns and calls me on and onAcross the universe7. “Street Spirit” by RadioheadRows of houses, all bearing down on meI can feel their blue hands touching meAll these things into positionAll these things we’ll one day swallow wholeAnd fade out again and fade out8. “Let the Drummer Kick” by Citizen CopeDelusion (Say that the dreams don’t come true)Solution (It can take a hold of you)ConclusionInspiration (Is what pulls you through)9. “Grapevine Fires” by Death Cab for CutieAnd we watched the plumes paint the sky grayAnd she laughed and danced through the field of gravesThere I knew it would be alrightThat everything would be alright,Would be alrightWould be alrightWould be alright. And the news reports on the radioSaid it was getting worseAs the ocean air fanned the flame. But I couldn’t think of anywhere I would have rather beenTo watch it all burn away.To burn away.10. “On You Wings” by Iron & WineGod, there are guns growing out of our bonesGod, every road takes us farther from homeAll these men that you madehow we wither in the shadeof your trees, on your wingswe are carried to the seaGod, give us love in the time that we haveSongs can all be found here.

1. “Talking Bird” by Death Cab for Cutie

It’s hard to see your way out
When you live in a house in a house
Cause you don’t realize
That the windows were open the whole time.

2. “Wake Up” by Arcade Fire

If the children don’t grow up,
our bodies get bigger but our hearts get torn up.
We’re just a million little god’s causin rain storms
Turnin’ every good thing to rust.

3. “Cave” by Mumford & Sons

It’s empty in the valley of your heart
The sun, it rises slowly as you walk
Away from all the fears
And all the faults you’ve left behind

4. “The World at Large” by Modest Mouse

The days get shorter and the nights get cold.
I like the autumn but this place is getting old.
I pack up my belongings and I head for the coast.
It might not be a lot but I feel like I’m making the most.
The days get longer and the nights smell green.
I guess it’s not surprising but it’s spring and I should leave.

They both seem to make me feel a little less insane.
Walked on off to another spot.
I still haven’t gotten anywhere that I want.

5. “You are a Tourist” by Death Cab for Cuite

And if you feel just like a tourist in the city you were born
Then it’s time to go
And define your destination
There’s so many different places to call home

6. “Across the Universe” by Fionna Apple

Sounds of laughter, shades of earth are ringing
Through my open ears inciting and inviting me
Limitless undying love which shines around me like a
million suns and calls me on and on
Across the universe

7. “Street Spirit” by Radiohead

Rows of houses, all bearing down on me
I can feel their blue hands touching me
All these things into position
All these things we’ll one day swallow whole
And fade out again and fade out

8. “Let the Drummer Kick” by Citizen Cope

Delusion (Say that the dreams don’t come true)
Solution (It can take a hold of you)
Conclusion
Inspiration (Is what pulls you through)

9. “Grapevine Fires” by Death Cab for Cutie

And we watched the plumes paint the sky gray
And she laughed and danced through the field of graves
There I knew it would be alright
That everything would be alright,
Would be alright
Would be alright
Would be alright.

And the news reports on the radio
Said it was getting worse
As the ocean air fanned the flame.
But I couldn’t think of anywhere I would have rather been
To watch it all burn away.
To burn away.

10. “On You Wings” by Iron & Wine

God, there are guns growing out of our bones
God, every road takes us farther from home

All these men that you made
how we wither in the shade
of your trees, on your wings
we are carried to the sea

God, give us love in the time that we have

“Though I did not know the place,
I set out to find the land of my dreams,
Having arrived at the land of my dreams,
I found that I did not know the place.”
